Money Saving Strategies

I have so much fun saving money. I really do. I have started a diary of ways I am able to save on a daily basis which I thought I would share. Here are my tips:

-Print off coupons for restaurants and keep them with you. As much as I don't want to eat out all the time, I know sometimes we need to and having coupons handy really helps the pocketbook. Here are some I always have on hand:

Panera-I signed up for Panera coupons and received a coupon for a free bundt cake for my birthday (good the entire birthday month), I also received $1 off salad and sandwich coupons, and I also print off the "Meet for Coffee" (see previous post on this) coupon on days when I know I will be headed to Panera which is good for a free cup of coffee.

Borders-I printed the coupon for a free Seattle's Best coffee at Borders (which I also posted previously) and it is good through May 25th.

Moe's Southwestern Grille-I keep my receipts from Moe's and on most receipts there is an offer to do a survey for a free burrito. I write the code on all my receipts and always have coupons for free burritos on me.

Wendy's-On the back of Wendy's receipts there is an offer to do a survey for a free Single. I keep these on hand as well.

-I keep packets of Crystal Lite, Equal and Sweet-n-Low in my purse at all times. When we go to dinner at a sit-down restaurant we order water with lemon and add a little sweetener to make it taste like lemonade. When we go to amusement parks or ballgames we add the Crystal Lite to a cup of complimentary water to make it taste better. We save hundreds of dollars a year by doing this!

-I print off coupons for items I know I'll need or always use and keep them with me at all times. Check out the coupons on my coupons.com widget (right side of the page) to easily print your coupons to keep on hand.

-I consign clothes. I have three growing boys and they are always outgrowing clothes. I always have box or two of clothes to take to the consignment store.

-I do focus groups and secret shopping. I usually make around $100 a month by doing this.

-I use the libary. I order late release movies, books and cd's and have them shipped to my local branch for pick-up. I save tons by doing this-the library is such a great resource.

-I save my receipts for all my purchases. I save every, every receipt. If something breaks or goes bad, I find the receipt and return the product. If something goes on sale, I get an adjustment.

-I also just discovered Apple's free Apps for the Ipod Touch and Iphone. I am in love with these! I have an App for Craigslist, Pandora (free music!), a free wi-fi finder app (so handy!) , a flashlight (really works!), a cheap gas finder app, and more.

-I use the free Redbox codes on Mondays to get free overnight DVD rentals for my kids (they love this treat).

-I donate what I don't need and get a receipt for tax purposes (kill two birds with one stone).

-I am not afraid to complain if a product doesn't work. I will call the manufacturer, politely explain the problem and ask for a replacement or refund. I usually will get a refund or coupon for a replacement product by simply doing this.

It is better than the Aveda and Kerastase conditioning products I have tried and it is less expensive. I just love etsy.com. Etsy is an online marketplace where you can find handmade, unique items. Etsy items can be super affordable too! Here are some of my favorite etsy items:

Baby Gifts-Etsy is the perfect place to find adorable baby gifts...

Custom-made Disney outfits-I do not like the usual "characterware/Disney licensed" outfits but these handmade Disney outfits are so adorable...

Love these men's t'shirts (especially the first one since my name just happens to be Jennifer!)...

Monogrammed items...these are too cute for words and the kind of items that will make strangers ask you where you found them...

Little girl dresses-too bad I only have boys! These are precious...

Summer is almost here and that means it is time to head to the ballpark. Here are some money-saving tips and ideas to make the most of your time at the ballpark this summer.

Must-haves for the game:

Of course you need snacks if you are heading to the game. I say take some from home and stash them in your purse (cracker jacks and peanuts work great for this)!

Sunscreen is also a must if you are heading to an afternoon game. Sephora has this great Sun Safety Kit on sale for around 20 bucks...

Finding just the right outfit for the game can be tough. I found this cute kids shirt on etsy.com. Love it!
